Established in 1929, Mystic Seaport Museum is the largest maritime museum in the U.S., located in Mystic, Connecticut. We created a new identity and visual system to set the Museum apart from other local Connecticut attractions. Using a combination of maritime and historical references paired with a contemporary visual style, the Museum’s identity invites new audiences to connect with the sea.

The logo places emphasis on the word “Museum” to differentiate from the rest of the attraction in the Mystic area. The cascading words allude to the movement of the waves as well as the planks of a boat.
We established a graphic system called horizon lines that allows for text and images to be expressed in a variety of content and orientations.
The website was redesigned for visitors to learn about exhibitions, plan trips and purchase tickets. Throughout each of these actions, the design is kept true and unique to the brand.
